In 2018, there was an unexpected announcement – several films based on the “Walking Dead” universe were announced at once. Considering the events of the last year and a half, it seems as if it happened in a past life. Since then, in 2019, a mysterious teaser has been shown. But after that, no news about the projects appeared. Which is not surprising considering how many transfers have been since then.
However, this does not mean that the films have been canceled. Franchise veteran Greg Nicotero, who specializes in makeup and practical effects on The Walking Dead, spoke to ComicBook.com and confirmed that the films are still in development.
I would like to know to share what is happening. I have been reading various scripts over the past few months. They [the producers] do everything they can to get it right.
Earlier, actor Andrew Lincoln told SFX magazine that the process is moving. He explained that he is not yet playing Rick Grimes – the reason was the pandemic. But he noted that as soon as the opportunity arises, the projects will return to active production.
At the same time, Lincoln confirmed that he had signed up for several films “The Walking Dead”, but first you need to get everything right in the first.
Meanwhile, the final season of The Walking Dead will begin airing in August. There will be 24 episodes in total and the last one will be shown in 2022.
