Neil Gaiman is in great demand these days. Following the success of the Good Omens series, Amazon decided to film another book by the popular writer, The Children of Anansi. The script will be co-written by Gaiman himself, along with his friend – British actor and screenwriter Lenny Henry.
Anansi Children was conceived around 1996, after a conversation I had with Lenny Henry that it would be nice to write a story based on a culture we both loved. And I wrote (hopefully) a hilarious and amusing book about a dead god and his two sons, about birds, ghosts, beasts and policemen, all based on Caribbean and African tales.
The plot of “Children of Anansi” is dedicated to Charles Nancy, the most ordinary person who learns that his recently deceased father was in fact the god of deception of Anansi. The situation is aggravated by the appearance in the life of Charles of a man named Spider, who calls himself the “twin brother” of the hero, although he is completely different from him.
Anansi’s character has already appeared on American Gods, but it is unclear whether Orlando Jones, who played him, will return to his role. There are no details on the show’s release date yet. It is only known that we are talking about a mini-series of six episodes.
