World of Warcraft Players Raise In-Game Protests Against Activision Blizzard Over Recent Allegations

Yesterday it became known that the California state authorities are suing Activision Blizzard. The reason for this was accusations of gender inequality – there are too few women in the company who are paid too little and who are too rarely promoted. In addition, many of the female employees complain of “sexual harassment.”

After the information about the lawsuit was leaked to the network, some World of Warcraft players staged a protest against the company’s policies. Gamers hold meetings in the game itself, as well as condemn the developers on the forums and reddit.

The in-game protest was organized by the role-playing guild Fence Macabre on the Moon Guard and Wyrmrest Accord servers. Its members speak out against inequality and even raise funds for the Black Girls Code, a charity that “helps women of different skin colors get into the tech industries.”

Calls to remove from World of Warcraft are also gaining popularity on Reddit. Field Marshal Afrasiabi – character, named in honor of Alex Afrasiab veteran studio, standing at the origins of the game. The fact is that in the lawsuit against the company, he is mentioned as a man who loved to molest women. Alex himself left the studio last year.

Apparently, Activision Blizzard fell into a perfect storm, from which it will be very difficult for her to get out without losing reputation and personnel. But let’s see what happens next.
