Amazon Prime has released the first full trailer for The Underground Railroad, directed by Barry Jenkins (If Beale Street Could Talk, Moonlight). The premiere will take place at the online cinema on May 14.
Cora, a black slave, works on a cotton plantation in Virginia. Overwork, the inhuman cruelty of both the owners and brothers and sisters in misfortune, ready to do anything for the sake of survival, push Cora to a desperate step, and she escapes along with the recently arrived Caesar. It is from him that she learns about the underground railway, which leads to freedom. But in their footsteps there is already a ruthless hunter for fugitive slaves.
Joel Edgerton (“The Warrior”), William Jackson Harper (“Solstice”) and others starred in The Underground Railroad. The role of Cora was entrusted to South African actress Tuso Mbedu, for whom this is her debut in Western cinema.
