LG confirmed on Monday that it will close its mobile segment by the end of July 2021, but the South Korean company is not going to cut the ends abruptly.
According to LG, premium smartphones released in 2019 and 2020 will receive two to three years of update support. The guaranteed three Android updates will receive the G, V, Velvet and Wing series devices, while the LG Stylo and K series smartphones will receive only two updates. That being said, it’s worth considering Google’s release schedule, as well as the compatibility and performance of newer versions of Android on smartphones.
LG added that it will continue to release smartphones until the end of the second quarter of 2021 to meet contractual obligations with carriers and third-party partners.
