You may have heard of the Easter eggs hidden in Homefront: The Revolution . Somewhere in the bowels of the game, you can find an arcade machine with two levels of the shooter TimeSplitters 2 from the same developers. But not everything is so simple – it turns out that from the very beginning the title hid not a cut-down, but a full version of TimeSplitters 2, and in 4K resolution.
But no one will ever play it, because the access code to the remaster has been lost. Anyway, so says Matt Phillips, one of the developers of Homefront: The Revolution .
My reason for pride. A fully playable 4K port of TimeSplitters 2 tucked away in this arcade machine in Homefront: The Revolution .
According to Matt, there was only one way to play the full version of TimeSplitters 2 – using a special unlock code. However, now this code has been lost along with the laptop on which it was stored.
Once I gave the code to a friend so that he leaked it to some kind of Discord channel, but there he was called a liar and his account was banned, ahahah.
The shooter TimeSplitters 2 was developed by British studio Free Radical Design and released in 2002. The studio was later renamed Crytek UK, and in 2014 it was closed, and most of the staff moved to Dambuster Studios, where they worked on Homefront: The Revolution .
