Apex Legends players from Japan get banned for using the word nigero

A lot has happened in Apex Legends over the past couple of years , it’s hard to believe that the game really came out only two years ago and found its place among the royal battles. But in addition to many positive moments and situations, there are also troubles in the battle royale, as in most games.

Apex Legends is popular in many countries, including Japan. The game is so loved in Japan that the game director even noted that the ninth season will be especially attractive for gamers from Japan.

At least for those who will not be sent into suspension for using the most common word. Because in recent weeks, Apex Legends players from Japan have been complaining about getting bans for using the word “nigero”. It is a real Japanese word that translates to “run away.”

Obviously, this word is reminiscent of the classic American insult to “nigga”, which in the US many white people are so afraid that they don’t even dare to write or pronounce. Even if, in many other languages, words comparable in sound or spelling have a completely innocent context.

However, there is something American about it – to make the rest of the world feel awkward about the history of the United States itself.

The gamer was banned for 168 hours, and the reason is simple – he tried to tell his teammate to run away, but he did not understand, then the gamer decided to write to the chat, believing that the party member was also from Japan.

The Apex Legends community is unhappy with this state of affairs. Someone says that for this reason they do not use chat at all. It is not clear whether the ban was issued by an automatic system or by the decision of a moderator, but developers should definitely take into account the context of using certain words.
