Zenimax officially became part of Microsoft this week. And with her, several top franchises and a handful of new studios have joined the Xbox family. Microsoft now owns The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Prey, DOOM, Dishonored, Rage, and more. The results are already visible – 20 games have been added to the Xbox Game Pass subscription, a number of projects will receive an FPS boost on the Xbox Series.
Overall, this is very good news for Bethesda studios. Microsoft has a lot more financial resources and the company will not keep developers on the chain. This will allow not only to deal with the universes loved by millions of gamers, but also to experiment with new projects.
It’s hard to say what the long-term outcome will be, especially given Microsoft’s bet on Game Pass. In the meantime, we have to wait for Starfield, The Elder Scrolls VI, Fallout 5, new games in the DOOM universe, Arkane projects and much more.
