Disney’s Cruella debut trailer was released last week. According to analytics, the video scored 71 million views in the first 24 hours. The calculations took into account all available sites.
The Cruella trailer beat Aladdin (60.8 million) and Maleficent (61.7 million).
Considering the pandemic and the cooled desire of the audience to follow the new movies, the result is still impressive. However, Cruella could not get to the views of other Disney hits. The Lion King trailer received 224 million views in its first day, while Mulan received 175 million.
As for Cruella, the events will unfold in London in the 1970s, when the city was dominated by the culture of punk rock. Viewers will see the rise of a selfish villain, obsessed with fur, smoking and hatred of Dalmatians.
The film was directed by Craig Gillespie (“Tonya Against Everybody”, “And the Storm Came”). Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham and Mark Strong also played in the tape.
Cruella is slated to premiere in May this year.
