Dr. Hibbert in The Simpsons will be voiced by a black actor

Following protests from the Black Lives Matter movement, it was announced in the summer that The Simpsons’ black characters will receive new voice actors with matching skin colors. Dr. Hibbert became one of these characters in the animated series.

Now he will be voiced by actor Kevin Michael Richardson instead of Harry Shearer.

The first episode with new voice acting will be released on February 28th. Richardson is a veteran voice actor with over 30 years of experience. He has voiced characters from the DC and Marvel universes, as well as Star Wars, Transformers, Family Guy and many others. He also has 76 episodes of The Simpsons under his belt.

Shearer will continue to play other cartoon characters: Ned Flanders, Director Skinner and Mr. Burns. The Simpsons season 32 is in progress.
