The Verge reported that by 2025 Toronto wants to build an e-sports arena made in the form of a spaceship. The building will accommodate seven thousand spectators.
The new arena will be built in the exhibition area, where the field of the local football team is currently located. The architectural company Populous is responsible for designing the building.
According to the company’s chief designer Jonathan Malley, the chosen design is versatile and modern:
The design of this building was not conceived for either an e-sports arena or an opera house. I would call it something new, versatile and modern. There, however, it will be possible to hold tournaments and stage theater scenes.
The building has not yet been built, but it is already planned to host more than two hundred events a year, various congresses and award ceremonies.
