A police officer traveled to a Muslim family’s home in 2019 as part of the UK government’s strategy to prevent extremism. This happened after a four-year-old son was overheard talking about Fortnite on the playground after school.
A West Midland boy drew attention to himself after revealing that his father had “guns and bombs in his barn.” It turned out that the boy was just watching his cousin play Fortnite at their place.
Subsequently, a worried officer came to the family at night. He noted that he was just following the instructions, but the mother is sure that no one would have come at all if the boy was white. In her opinion, it is very clear that he was talking about a video game.
The prevention program works in schools and clubs as a counter-terrorist attack. The UK Home Office noted that the person who reported this did the right thing.
