Since the beginning of last year, the film industry has been in a difficult situation – many cinemas are closed, and the collection of films can hardly be called record-breaking. According to analyst Eric Wold, everything will return to normal only by 2023.
In his calculations, the analyst mentioned that it all depends on how quickly the coronavirus vaccine will be distributed around the world. The development of the drug turned out to be not as fast as previously thought.
In addition, even if the vaccine is released, not all people will immediately want to go to the cinema. It will take time to adapt to your usual lifestyle. The analyst said that by 2022, the fall in fees will be 7%, and then the film industry will return to records.
There are not many major films planned for 2023 now – there will be a sequel to Shazam, a prequel about Furiosa from Mad Max and Guardians of the Galaxy 3. In the first half of 2021, there will be almost no major premieres.
