The publication Deadline reported that the sequel “Lara Croft” has changed the director – now the picture will be directed by the showrunner of the series “Lovecraft Country” Misha Green. She will also be the scriptwriter of the sequel.
Previously, the director was Ben Wheatley. The reasons for his departure were not disclosed. Perhaps this is due to the director’s schedule, who last October signed a contract to continue the movie “Meg” about a giant shark.
“Lara Croft” will be Green’s debut in a big movie. She has already confirmed her participation and is very happy to join the project. Initially, the new “Lara Croft” with Alicia Vikander was due out in March this year, but now the picture does not even have an approximate release date.
When the shooting of the picture will begin, it is still unknown.
The first part of “Lara Croft” with Vikander was released in March 2018 and grossed nearly $ 275 million worldwide with a budget of 94 million. The film received mixed reviews, but MGM decided to shoot a sequel.
