Netflix will introduce a new audio format for Android devices to improve playback quality. We are talking about xHE-AAC – streaming in this format allows you to enjoy “studio quality” sound.
Moreover, this quality will be available with a good level of Internet connection – the application will automatically increase the bitrate. However, on a bad network, the bitrate will be reduced. It should also be borne in mind that xHE-AAC will require a device with Android 9 Pie on board.
Along with improvements for Android OS, the streaming service is testing support for spatial audio on AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. At the moment, the service has content with Dolby Atmos surround sound.
When exactly Netflix will add support for the new iOS 14 feature is not yet known. You can read more about this function here .
