Facebook said some users were kicked out due to configuration change

On Friday, users of the Facebook iOS app reported problems with re-login when using two-step authentication. Facebook said some users were unexpectedly kicked out of their accounts on Friday due to a “configuration change” – the issue was fixed on Saturday.

“On January 22nd, some people were kicked out of their Facebook accounts as a result of a configuration change . We investigated the issue and fixed it for all users this morning. We are sorry for the inconvenience, ”a Facebook spokesperson told The Verge in an email.

More specifically, the problems started on Friday night ET, when users on the r / Facebook thread on Reddit forums reported that they started receiving re-login requests from their Facebook apps, even though they weren’t logging out.

Engadget found that iPhone owners were likely to be the hardest hit by the crash, noting that Facebook iOS app users were particularly hard pressed to re-log into their two-factor accounts. Most of them managed to log into the system again, but the necessary identification codes did not arrive on smartphones for a long time.
