According to Variety, the production of a spin-off about Willy Wonka, a character in the films Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), has gotten off the ground.
Warner Bros. plans to begin filming within four months, with a premiere slated for March 17, 2023. The film will be released under the title “Wonka”. According to Collider , WB is considering Tom Holland or Timothy Chalamet for the role of Willie Wonka.
Plot details are still missing, but the picture will probably tell about the early years of Willie Wonka, even before he became the owner of the confectionery factory.
The film is produced by David Hayman, who previously worked on the Harry Potter franchise, as well as Fantastic Beasts. The script will be written by Simon Rich, best known for his work on Saturday Night Live. The film will be directed by Paul King, who is responsible for both parts of The Adventures of Paddington.
