RAM is a rare component for PCs, which has not only not grown in price in recent years, but even dropped in price, for example, in 2019, when the market was oversaturated with supply. However, according to the HKEPC, in 2020 the price of a component has increased by 20-30%, and this is not the limit.
The price increased due to increased demand during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, but its further growth will depend on the manufacturers. The fact is that, for example, Samsung plans to convert its plant in Hwasung, which dealt with RAM, for the production of contact image sensors. The main RAM companies also have no plans to invest in the sector anytime soon.
This decision will lead to higher prices for RAM, simply due to the fact that it will be in short supply. If you are planning to buy a couple of DDR4 dies, then maybe now is the time.
