Nioh series producer Fumihiko Yasuda recently sat down with reporters to discuss the future of Team Ninja, as well as plans for the Ninja Gaiden and Nioh series.
First of all, Yasuda once again confirmed that Nioh is being paused – the story is over. The team is ready to return to the series after working on other games and gaining experience.
We want to focus on new titles now, so there are no plans for Nioh 3 yet. But in the future, I would happily return to the series and create a game that surpasses Nioh and Nioh 2.
In addition, Yasuda talked about whether to expect a series of hardcore action games on Xbox consoles. Now there are no such plans, but in the future Team Ninja is ready to work with Microsoft again.
No plans to release Nioh on Xbox consoles. But, of course, we don’t forget our history of partnership with Ninja Gaiden, so if we take on a new game in the series, we will definitely release the game on Xbox.
Sounds promising, but fans should be prepared – a new Ninja Gaiden is not in development despite recent rumors.
No plans at the moment, but I’ve always wanted to release a new installment in the series.
Yasuda confirmed that Team Ninja is currently working on several unannounced titles. In addition, he said that the team really wants to try themselves in open world games.
