During the live broadcast of CES 2021, MSI employee David Yee revealed (mark 48:43) that the company will increase the prices of graphics cards and its other products due to the increase in US customs duties.
Earlier, the price hikes were announced by ASUS, Zotac and EVGA.
The increase in the cost of video cards will affect both old models of graphics accelerators and the new Sea Hawk series with a liquid cooling system. At the moment, MSI has not yet established even an approximate cost.
As for the Sea Hawk, we just introduced the series today and are still trying to figure out how to ship it from our factory. We have not even resolved the issue with the price because of the shipping costs and taxes that we have to pay just for the sake of customs to give us the video cards.
So we don’t have final information about this yet. But we can definitely say that prices will rise.
In addition, it became known how much the prices for motherboards have increased. Depending on the model, the price for MSI motherboards increased by $ 4-20. The top solution of the company MEG Z590 Godlike will cost $ 1,019.
Along with this, ASUS also shared prices for new motherboards based on Intel Z590. The flagship model ROG Maximus XIII Extreme Glacial for Germany and Austria costs 1,516 euros. It is equipped with a water block.
The motherboards will be on sale during the first quarter of 2021 and should coincide with the launch of the new Rocket Lake-S processors. Earlier, Intel introduced the flagship of a fresh line.
