Recently, information appeared on the network that on Wednesday Apple will make some important announcement that is not related to the company’s products. Many believed that the company would announce its stores as locations for coronavirus vaccinations, others suggested that it would have something to do with Donald Trump. In fact, everything turned out to be far from being so important on a global scale.
Apple has pledged to spend millions of dollars in favor of racial equality. And only in the USA.
Apple will spend $ 100 million on the program. $ 25 million will go to a training center for blacks. The center will be built at the University of Atlanta, including a virtual platform for distance learning and events. The center will teach AI, machine learning, application development, augmented reality, creative directions and business. Apple employees will help shape the curriculum and mentor. And students will get the chance to become interns at Apple.
In addition to Apple, other companies will also participate in the creation and development of the center.
In addition, Apple has promised to open a developer academy in Detroit, where it will help and inspire black youth to create, program or do business. The program will be available to everyone. The academy will receive two courses – a 30-day introductory program and a 10-12 month program for creating applications in iOS, which includes design, development and marketing. The company expects 1,000 people to take the course annually.
Apple is also investing $ 10 million in venture capital firm Harlem Capital to better support companies with diverse founders. Another 25 million will go to the Clear Vision Impact Fund, which focuses on small and medium-sized businesses led by minorities. An unspecified amount will also be donated to the Martin Luther King Jr. Center.
Simply put, there is no global news, everything is focused exclusively on the United States. And most importantly, all this does not in any way solve the source of racial inequality in the country.
