Gotham Police TV series gets new showrunner

In November, the media reported that Underground Empire writer Terence Winter had left the Gotham Police series. The reason was creative differences with Matt Reeves and the production team. Now a replacement has been found for him.

According to Deadline, the new showrunner will be Joe Barton, writer of Duty / Shame and People. Reeves will retain the position of executive producer.

The so far unnamed show will take place in the same universe as “Batman” with Robert Pattinson. The series will tell about the underworld of Gotham, sending viewers to the lawless streets of Batman’s hometown, as well as expanding the universe of the upcoming film. It is not clear whether Pattinson or other characters from the full-length movie will appear on the show.

Batman is expected to premiere on March 4, 2022. Filming will take four months longer due to constant stops amid the pandemic.
