Deadline said House of Cards creator Bo Willimon is adapting the Risk board game into a series. He will write and oversee the production of the show.
Risk is a strategy board game first released in France in 1957 under the name La Conquête du Monde. It is designed for a company of two to six players who need to seize other people’s territories. Risk combines the basic mechanics of a board game – diplomacy, politics and war. In the wake of the popularity of the game, a lot of additional editions were released offering a variety of settings: “Transformers”, “Star Wars”, “The Lord of the Rings”, Halo and others.
The show will be produced by Hasbro’s Entertainment One, which has been the publisher of desktop Risk since 1991. Details of the series are still unknown.
