Housemarque staff showed the third installment of the HouseCast video podcast, dedicated to the upcoming release of Returna l. Several new gameplay snippets can be seen.
We talked about the nuances of transferring the classic, arcade bullethall gameplay into a three-dimensional world. The developers had to carefully work out all possible methods of movement and indication of enemy attacks. For example, at a certain moment, you can get something like a grappling hook, it acts over much greater distances than the usual dash to the side.
Housemarque is also attentive to management. It should be as intuitive as possible, because this is the most important thing in an arcade game. However, everything can be reconfigured as desired, including removing double action from DualSense Adaptive Triggers.
