Twitch Removes PogChamp Due To Emotion's Call for Capitol Violence

The new year 2021 began not only with a GTA V meme, but also with protests in the United States. During the demonstration, 4 people were killed, including a woman. Ryan Gootecks Gutierrez commented on the situation.

Will there be civil unrest over the woman executed today in the Capitol, or will #MAGAMartyr die in vain?

Thus, the author of the emotion PogChamp supported the people who broke into the Capitol. Twitch took notice of this and quickly removed the emotion from the online service, even though it was one of the most popular on the streaming platform.

We made the decision to remove the PogChamp emote after statements emerged on behalf of the emotion calling for further violence after what happened today at the Capitol.

Users have previously asked Twitch to remove the emotion in response to Gutierrez’s posting of conspiracy theories related to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the service has only taken action now.

The company plans to work with the community to select a new emoji for the hottest moments on Twitch.
