Digital Foundry specialist Richard Leadbetter decided to test Cyberpunk 2077 in the version for Google Stadia. He said that the results surprised him in an amicable way, and the level of quality is almost comparable to the Xbox Series X.
Leadbetter revealed that he played with a 14ms latency for the entire 132 minute session. Stadia consumed 8.28 GB of data per hour. The Cyberpunk 2077 version also comes with surprises: it was handled by studio QLOC, and it is a version for legacy consoles with graphical tweaks.
Technical details:
- Quality mode: dynamic 1440p-1584p (on Series X 1620p-1800p), almost stable 30 FPS
- Performance mode: dynamic 810p-972p (on Series X 1080p-1620p), 45-55 FPS and more blurry picture
Leadbetter also noted that graphically Cyberpunk 2077 looks weaker than the Series X version, but in some points the situation is the opposite. Stadia has more cache textures and therefore higher quality, shadows in the distance are rendered better than on Series X. In general, in some aspects the Google streaming platform will win, and in others – the Microsoft console.
The author of Digital Foundry concluded that the most correct comparison would be Series S – Stadia looks preferable to the younger Microsoft system, but the nextgen patch can turn everything in a completely different direction.
