Director Zack Snyder spoke to ComicBook reporters about the work on his Justice League, DC’s future, and confirmed one rumor regarding Jared Leto.
Snyder revealed that he will no longer be associated with DC after the director’s cut of Justice League premieres. The director has no plans to continue making films within this universe. At least that’s the plan.
I never thought I’d be doing this here – finishing Justice League. The truth is, this is an old movie and I have no problem with that. The DC Universe has ended and spurred out, and that’s okay. As for my vision and what I wanted to do with these characters … it’s no secret that I have more films planned, five or so, but I’m busy. I have a lot of work in progress.
It’s really cool that fans believe so much in the trajectory I have chosen, and I’m really happy that they can see Justice League. But will I continue? I have no such plans. But as I said, I never thought that I would be here again. So who knows?
As for the rumor about Jared Leto, it was previously reported that in Snyder’s “Justice League” there will be one finished scene with the actor’s Joker. The director confirmed, but added that there is not much material.
I only added a couple of scenes. One I was hoping to shoot before [when I was working on the film], but it didn’t work, and the other is the scene with Jared. Everything else is previously filmed footage.
Snyder explained that he had never been able to film such scenes before. The studio saw the film lighter, lighter and more humorous. However, the director, although he agreed with these rules, strove to shoot the tape with his own vision.
I kind of continued to shoot in defiance of what I believed would be closest to the version that I would direct without outside influence. This is how I always work. I always try to shoot the way I think is right.
I felt like an archaeologist, reassembling the film from pieces I had shot that might never have seen the light of day.
Thesis about other details of the interview:
- Snyder admitted that before the ReleaseTheSnyderCut move, he had come to terms with the fact that no one would ever see his version of Justice League
- Snyderkat is in the middle of Superman’s development, which is why he wears black in the film. There are also plot reasons for this.
- Less than 100 VFX frames left to finish, 99% work done
- The director is proud of the ReleaseTheSnyderCut legacy
Late last year, Snyder posted two new stills and urged fans to get ready for 2021. The director’s cut of Justice League will air on HBO Max in March 2021.
