A group of 226 Google employees announced the formation of a union organization called the Alphabet Workers Union. Employees want them to have rights and their voice is important to the company.
We come together – temporary workers, suppliers, contractors and staff members – to create a unified voice for workers. We want Alphabet to be a company where workers have a say in decisions that affect them and the communities in which they live.
The union now includes only a small fraction of the 260,000 Alphabet workers and contractors. According to the available data, the union will be open to all employees, regardless of the conditions under which they work.
Our union will work to ensure that employees know what they are working on and can carry out their duties for a fair pay without fear of abuse, harassment or discrimination.
The Alphabet Workers’ Union seeks to eliminate the inequality that makes temporary workers less paid than those who work for the company on a full-time basis. At the same time, the amount of work does not change from this.
