The editor wheelerman pointed out that according to the latest data from Steam, English will soon cease to be the most popular language on the site. In the near future, Simplified Chinese may bypass it.
Over the past month, Simplified Chinese has increased 11.88% more Steam users. It ranks second with a total score of 31.07%, while English has 33.21%.
Some players believe that it will not do without consequences. The popularity of Valve’s service in China will mean that the company will have to implement strict censorship, as it will be required by the Chinese government. Some users would like to see a separate Steam client for China.
Other Steam stats for December 2020:
- The total share of Windows 10 64 bit increased to 91.44%
- PC with 16 GB RAM is now 49.95%
- 4-core processors are still in the lead, but in December the percentage decreased to 39.55
