Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain awarded Roger Deakins the title of Knight Bachelor for exceptional achievement in cinema. Cinematographer has received awards for filming “The Shawshank Redemption”, “007: Skyfall Coordinates” and “1917”. The last Deakins shot in long sections, which were later edited as if the film had been made in one shot.
Deakins is considered one of the most famous Hollywood cameramen. He was nominated 13 times for the Academy Award and won it for his work on Blade Runner 2049 and 1917, and in 2013 became a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Among his cult works are No Country for Old Men, Sid and Nancy, and How the Cowardly Robert Ford Killed Jesse James.
In addition to Deakins, Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton received the knight title. He received this award for merit in sports – in 2020 he became a seven-time champion and equaled the German driver Michael Schumacher in this indicator.
