FOX 5 Atlanta reported that a North Georgia medical student named Caleb King sold a collection of Pokemon cards for $ 80,000 on eBay. King did this to invest in further education.
Caleb began collecting cards back in 2016 when he was a teenager. Then the guy spent $ 4000 on them. Several years ago, cards were not in demand as much as they are now, and that is why the student managed to buy them for a fairly low price today.
In an interview with the TV channel, King said that many did not support his hobby:
Many people tried to dissuade me from collecting, especially my parents. Everyone said that I shouldn’t spend so much money on any cards, they thought it was funny. It’s good that I didn’t listen to anyone then, because now it paid off.
Caleb sold only a fraction of his collection. Now the guy still has 21 cards left, and among them there is a special, rare one – Red Cheeks Pikachu, which is estimated at $ 20 thousand. If the guy wants to sell the remaining cards, then he can earn another $ 50 thousand.
