Asian analytical resource DigiTimes, citing its own sources, reported that PlayStation 5 shipments in the first month amounted to 3.4 million. Thus, the new Sony console bypassed the previous record holder PlayStation 4.
In addition, DigiTimes expects PS5 circulation in 2021 to range from 16.8 million to 18 million consoles. This is due to the fact that production will receive additional support from TSMC and other companies.
The publication notes that additional batches will primarily be directed to the Asian market, since there are even fewer opportunities to purchase the PS5 than in the rest of the world. According to Famitsu, 242,000 consoles have been sold in Japan as of December 20.
It is still difficult to buy PS5 now, although stores periodically announce the availability of new batches.
