Former President of Nintendo of America Reggie Fiss-Ameh, on the Talking Games with Reggie and Harold podcast, revealed that the famous rapper Kanye West once suggested to him the idea of creating a co-op game. It happened at one of the E3s, and Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario and The Legend of Zelda, even joined the conversation.
After the conversation, the parties decided to organize an official meeting, which, unfortunately, ended in nothing. Fis-Eme said that Nintendo was simply not up to it, and he had to politely refuse West and his wife Kim Kardashian, who was also present at the meeting.
To begin with, we wanted to understand what was on his mind. He experimented with some game content, wanted to hear feedback. He came in and said, “I want to work with Nintendo.”
We had a lot of projects in the works and the possibility of cooperation with Kanye was simply not possible. So I had to politely refuse. I said, “Kanye, you don’t want to work with us because we are very difficult. We strive to create only the best content. We are not the partner you want to work with.”
He looked at me and replied: “Reggie, you are exactly the partner with whom I want to work with just for this reason!
Nevertheless, Reggie called the meeting interesting, noting that he appreciates West’s interest in the gaming industry. The details of the game itself remain unknown.
