The PS5 is currently being marketed in a single color – the central part is black, and the side panels are white with blue backlighting from the inside. Design firm Dbrand wants to offer owners more variety in the look and feel of the console.
The company is reported to have begun producing replacement black panels for the digital and disc versions of the PS5. The panels will be available for purchase in 2021. Prices have not yet been announced, and pre-orders will open when sufficient stocks have accumulated. Dbrand will later offer styling kits for the console and controller.
Given that Sony had previously banned another company from selling custom panels, Dbrand was asked if it was worried about legal problems. The answer was: “Let them try.” Apparently, the company is determined to enter the market with its black panels.
If everything works out, then perhaps in the future there will be other color schemes. Sony’s own plans for other PS5 colors are unknown.
