OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau confirmed in his Twitter that the company is indeed developing smartwatches. He said that the device will be released in early 2021. The head of OnePlus did not give any further details.
Probably, the watch will run on Android in the proprietary shell OxygenOS, and the recent OPPO Watch will act as a basis.
The idea of creating a smartwatch has been spinning in the bowels of OnePlus for quite some time. Moreover, in 2016 the Chinese company even came up with a design, but then curtailed production and focused on smartphones. In recent years, OnePlus has started rolling out headphones, smart TVs, and even budget smartphones.
