Pornhub has removed millions of user videos from the site

Sad news for the regulars of Pornhub. The company today announced the removal of all videos uploaded to the site by unverified users. And this is literally millions of videos.

According to  Motherboard , there were about 13.5 million videos previously on Pornhub. Today that number has dropped to 4.7 million, before returning to 7.2 million a few hours later. Some of the currently deleted content may still return as a result of the verification process, but this may take months.

At the same time, the company did not miss the opportunity to criticize social networks, which, for some reason, get away with the lack of verification:

[Removal] means that all content is posted on Pornhub from verified users, a requirement that platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat and Twitter have not yet introduced.

The current decision is the result of a situation unfolding last week when the site was accused of hosting materials that include rape or minors. Shortly thereafter, Visa and Mastercard refused to make transfers to the site.

Pornhub said the incident was part of a campaign by several organizations that oppose pornography and all sex work. These companies have spent 50 years demonizing Playboy, sexuality education, women’s and LGBT rights, and more.
