Patty Jenkins criticizes Joss Whedon's Justice League

Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman, recently visited the ReelBlend podcast to discuss the upcoming sequel with the hosts. The hosts asked Jenkins if they had seen Joss Whedon’s Justice League and what they thought of the film.

Jenkins admitted that the picture was not liked not only by fans, but also by a host of other directors working on the DC Universe.

We didn’t like it about as much as the fans did.

In addition, the theatrical version contradicted the original Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984, which were already in production. So what can you do? You start thinking both ways. But I knew what Zach was doing, where he would eventually lead Diana, and I didn’t want to interfere with his ideas. At the same time, he constantly supported me and my paintings.

Therefore, the current “Justice League” simply did not fit into the idea of the DC universe. They tried to turn one into another and at some point I said: “I don’t recognize half of these characters, I don’t understand what’s going on.”

Let’s see how much Justice League changes in the director’s cut, which Zach Snyder is doing. The film will air in 2021 on HBO Max in four hour long episodes.

Wonder Woman 1984 will be released on December 16 in theaters around the world and on HBO Max. In Russia, the premiere will take place on January 14.
