Deadline reported that director Neil Blomkamp made a new film during the coronavirus pandemic. This is the director’s first full-length film since The Robot Called Chappy, which was released in 2015.
The unnamed film was filmed in British Columbia, Canada, and the cast is composed primarily of Canadian actors. Plot details are unknown, but it will be a supernatural sci-fi horror movie using VFX.
According to journalists, work on the film should be completed around the spring of next year. It is not yet clear when to expect the announcement and premiere. Now the director is also busy working on the detective thriller “Inferno”, but his shooting has shifted due to the pandemic.
Blomkamp is best known as the director of District 9, Elysium and Chappie. He also formed his own studio, Oats Studios, filming all sorts of short films, among which there was also a commercial for BioWare’s Anthem.
