So yes: The Division 2 gets an upgrade for next-gen consoles - what does it offer?

In The Division 2 one works but apparently on an update for the PS5, Xbox and Xbox Series X Series S. This is to the game on the next-gen consoles run better. Find out here what changes in detail.

That was the status so far: In the meantime, the next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 , Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S have started and are already decorating one or the other living room or play den.

The Division 2 can also be played on these new platforms, but only through the backward compatibility of the new consoles. That means: at the best level of the last gen – that of the PS4 Pro or the Xbox One X.

While numerous other games such as Destiny 2 or Borderlands 3 brought out (or are still bringing out) corresponding updates for the new generation of consoles, it so far looked as if The Division 2 would stay with games via backward compatibility.

Because a little later, the developers of Massive declared in one of their “State of the Game” streams that they did not plan to adapt The Division 2 especially for the next-gen.

So what is the next-gen upgrade all about? But in the latest State of the Game on December 2, there was recently a new development. There it was announced that there will now be improvements for the next-gen consoles.

When is the next-gen update for The Division 2 coming? The upgrade will come with Title Update 12.1, which will again be released on February 2, 2021. So it will take a while before The Division 2 can also benefit more from the technical possibilities of the new console hardware (there are already significantly shorter loading times).

So yes The Division 2 gets an upgrade for next-gen consoles - what does it offer
Soon The Division 2 will run a little better on the PS5 and the new Xbox models

What exactly will change with the upgrade? But don’t expect too much here. According to the developers, only 2 things will change:

  • The Division 2 will then be playable in 4K
  • The Division 2 will then run at 60 FPS

There should be no further optimizations. But even that should be enough for many. The 60 FPS, in other words, a smoother experience, is one of the greatest (technical) requests on the consoles for many an agent.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to seeing The Division 2 in better quality on the new consoles?
