In light of the release of the restored director’s cut of The Godfather 3, a Paramount Pictures spokesman told The New York Times that the company has not forgotten about the franchise and is quite ready to return to its development.
All that is needed is the right story, especially when Francis Ford Coppola no longer owns the rights to the franchise.
While we have no plans for a new film in the Godfather saga right now, the legacy is so great that we may well return to this issue in the future. When the right story comes along.
After the release of the third part of “The Godfather”, Coppola had plans for a fourth picture. It would have continued the story of Vincent Corleone, but the screenwriter for all three films, Mario Puzo, passed away in 1999. Therefore, the director refused to deal with the fourth part.
So far, this is just talk, but who knows.
