Journalist Matt Gardner posted on Forbes an article entitled “Why Xbox Series X Is The Biggest Gaming Disappointment Of 2020”. Microsoft has released a good console, he said, but it doesn’t feel like “a huge leap forward.”
Garden noted that Series X just feels like the best version of the Xbox One X. He compared it to previous launches of four generations of consoles, but the current one is the least memorable.
That being said, Series X has some cool and useful features like Quick Resume. However, according to Gardner, the function is incredible only when it works, but more often the opposite is true.
Another nuisance for the journalist was the gamepad, which practically did not change. Literally, this is the same controller as 7 years ago, with a better but painfully loud D-pad and a Type-C port. We also added a Share button.
In addition, Microsoft has very few big games. At the same time, Gardner notes not only the titles at the launch, but also the announcements for the next year. Although there are already thousands of games available to play on Series X, all of them were already available on Xbox One.
However, with a lack of even one spark at launch and something on the horizon, the future doesn’t look too exciting for the Xbox. Just one disappointment. After many years of dominating my gaming life, I can say one thing – in 2021, the Xbox Series X may not be my main gaming device.
In general, Gardner admitted that Series X does not give new emotions. Same interface, small technical leap and lack of Series-optimized games. Microsoft hasn’t been able to surprise the way it used to.
