Borderlands 3’s co-op shooter looter has been updated for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, and so Digital Foundry experts decided to find out how well the Gearbox title is performing on the new generation. As it turned out, now you can play Borderlands 3 on consoles without any problems.
- PS5 / Xbox Series X: two graphics modes – dynamic 4K / 60FPS (minimal drawdowns up to 2016p) and native 1080p / 120FPS, graphically the shooter looks a little better on the Sony console, in particular, it concerns shadows and vegetation details
- Xbox Series S: only performance mode – dynamic 1440p / 60FPS, graphically the version is very close to older consoles, the minimum resolution drop is up to 2112×1188
At 60 FPS, all consoles maintain this value almost perfectly, although the Series S is even slightly ahead of its older counterparts. In 120 FPS mode, PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles often drop up to 80 frames per second, but this mostly happens in especially difficult scenes and with a lot of effects. Downloads on all three systems are quite fast, but PS5 beats the competition – 12 seconds instead of 14-15.
Digital Foundry experts were pleased with the updated version of Borderlands 3 , but noted that the shooter lacks a couple of patches to become completely perfect.
