Mortal Kombat 11 has received long-term support from a variety of content, the popularity of the franchise is growing, and a new adaptation of the bloody fighting game series is due out soon. According to the Variety report , it will still make it to theaters, and not be released on the HBO Max streaming service.

After Warner Bros. decided to release Wonder Woman 1984 on HBO Max, with the release in theaters, the fate of the studio’s other films hung in the balance. According to Variety, Judas and the Black Messiah, Trivia and Tom and Jerry are likely to be released with a theatrical premiere, but not Mortal Kombat.

The studio also considered going that same route with Mortal Kombat, an adaptation of the popular video game, but decided instead to postpone the film’s theatrical debut.

The film was supposed to be released on January 15, 2021, but was postponed indefinitely.
