Today in the port city of Yokohama, adjacent to Tokyo, the official presentation of the giant Gundam took place. The giant, built by Gundam Factory Yokohama, is capable of imitating walking, hand, finger and head movements.
The Gundam replica has over 20 moving parts and is 18 meters high. It is located in the dock, which also serves as a viewing platform. Visitors will be able to climb to a height of 15 to 18 meters to take a photo and get a closer look at the giant robot. Gundam himself will change positions every half hour.
Not far from the site is also an exhibition hall with an exposition dedicated to the process of creating a moving statue. As noted by TASS, in one of the pavilions with the help of AR technology, visitors will be able to test themselves in the place of the Gundam pilot, located in its head part.
The official presentation was scheduled for this summer, but due to the pandemic, the event was postponed until the fall. The exhibit will open to the public on December 19.
