Lauren Mary Kim, who was Emily Swallow’s stunt double as the Gunsmith on The Mandalorian, spoke to the Corridor Crew about how the character’s fight with a bunch of stormtroopers was filmed in the final episode of the first season.
The stuntman stated that it was one of the most intense fights of her career, which took about 400-500 takes.
It was very difficult, largely due to the armor and helmet. Besides, we didn’t shoot this scene in chunks – we shot everything in one shot. I think it took us 400, 500 takes because we filmed from different angles at the same time. I was naturally dying.
Usually, the stunt coordinator demonstrates a scene without cameras – something like a sketch, a rehearsal. Shows how it should turn out in the end. In The Mandalorian, they wanted to shoot from several angles at once, so that later they could choose the most suitable one.
The cameramen and director know exactly how their show should look.
The girl added that this battle was filmed in one day.
The second season of The Mandalorian is now on Disney +. The third episode will be released tomorrow.
