Former EA Executive Vice President Patrick Söderlund today posted a new blog dedicated to his studio Embark and the team’s first shooter. He said that the team already includes almost 200 people, and the team has started developing the second project – a PvP shooter.
According to Patrick, he thought he was done with PvP shooters, as he worked on them for almost his entire career. But some time ago, a small team came up with a fresh idea that he could not ignore.
The gameplay of the new project relies on teamwork, dynamics, physics and destructibility. And some of the most experienced people in the industry are involved in the development.
This is how the new game’s character concepts look like.
In addition, the team continues to work on the first title announced in February 2019. The team embarked on full development this spring, after a lengthy prototyping phase. The ambition of the new project is to combine new and old genres with incredible technical innovations to create something unique.
And now you can take a look at the frame slicing:
Over the past months, the team has created an early build that collects feedback and feedback from testers.
In addition, in a blog post, Patrick said that the team uses techniques to optimize development, relying on procedural development, machine learning and other modern methods, thanks to which developers can achieve the best results in the optimal time. In areas such as hard surface modeling and character creation, he says, days are enough for artists, not weeks.
