Eurogamer managed to find out what is hidden under the mysterious function of FIFA Playtime in the changelog of the latest FIFA 21 patch . It turns out it’s related to microtransactions.

- You can see the overall gameplay time and how many FIFA Points were purchased (but not how much real money was spent)
- You can limit the number of matches per day, the number of FIFA Points purchased, the number of FUT packs to open
Electronic Arts is under constant pressure over the loot box system it actively exploits in its sports games. Some countries have already banned them, while others are actively studying this problem. Perhaps by using the constraint feature, EA is trying to soften the pressure and show that she understands the complexity of the situation and is working on it.
