Rumor AMD RX 6900 XT Will Force NVIDIA To Price No More Than $ 1000 On RTX 3080 Ti

According to AMD and experts’ forecasts, the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card could become a strong competitor for the NVIDIA RTX 3090. However, the key difference between the two models is the price. AMD’s solution is at least $ 400-500 cheaper. And it looks like AMD’s aggressive policy will lead to positive results for consumers who want to take the as yet unannounced RTX 3080 Ti.

In a conversation with a card manufacturer from Taiwan, the HKEPC website   found out that the RTX 3080 Ti will cost at the level of the RX 6900 XT, that is, around $ 999, while the specifications for the new NVIDIA model will be almost identical to the RTX 3090, only there is less memory.

The RTX 3090 is equipped with 24GB GDDR6X with 384-bit memory bus. The RTX 3080 Ti is rumored to only come with 20GB of storage and a 320-bit interface. Also, the 3080 Ti will not have NVLink support, but the power consumption will remain at 320 watts.

HEKPC notes that the RTX 3080 Ti is designed for an aggressive price / performance ratio, which raises questions about the future of the RTX 3090. After all, NVIDIA has professional solutions that are more efficient in certain workloads than the 3090, which is in a strange position between gaming and professional hardware.

Considering that the RTX 3090 is only 15% better at gaming than the RTX 3080, and in some cases 2% better, then there is no good reason to buy this model. Especially if the RTX 3080 Ti costs less than $ 1,000. According to unconfirmed information, the release of the RTX 3080 Ti will take place in January 2021. In the meantime, AMD RX 6000 graphics cards will begin shipping in the coming weeks. Serious shortages are to be expected.
