The disc version of The Last Guardian without patches runs on PS5 at 60 FPS

NX Gamer’s YouTube channel analyzed a number of PlayStation 4 titles that can be played on the PlayStation 5 for backward compatibility. Among these games was The Last Guardian , which, as it turned out, is capable of going at 60 FPS on the new Sony console.

But only if you run the game from disk without installing patches.

This is due to the fact that at release Fumito Ueda’s game had an unlocked FPS on PS4, but later the title received an update limiting the frame rate to 30. All for the sake of stable performance, but even in this mode The Last Guardian constantly dropped to 20-23 FPS.

Perhaps the game will receive a corresponding patch unlocking 60 FPS in the near future.

The Last Guardian was released on PS4 in December 2016.
