Some time ago, information appeared on the network that at the start of Cyberpunk 2077 will support ray tracing only on NVIDIA video cards. Later, AMD itself practically confirmed these words, stating that there would be no support on its cards in titles using solutions from NVIDIA.
In a conversation with wccftech , NVIDIA spokesman Brian Burke denied this information. Tracing the same Cyberpunk 2077 or any other game will work fine on any video card with DXR (DirectX Ray Tracing API) support.
Cyberpunk 2077 uses the DirectX Ray Tracing API. Ray tracing will be supported by any graphics card that is DXR compatible. CP2077 tracing does not use proprietary NVIDIA technology.
In other words, if a game is advertised in conjunction with NVIDIA, this does not mean that tracing will not be available on AMD cards. In addition, it is possible that Cyberpunk 2077 on nextgen consoles will receive ray tracing support.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on December 10 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series
